Quick answers
How soon can a shift start?
Read the full answerA shift needs to start at least an hour from now, so there’s time for someone to get there.
Shifts also stop taking new bookings an hour before they start.
When am I charged?
Read the full answerNo match, no charge. When you’re charged depends on how the shift is paid for.
Card
When someone books, we only check your card. It’s charged 24 hours before the shift starts, or about 30 minutes after booking if the shift starts sooner than that.
Direct Debit
Collected each Monday for the shifts that finished the week before. We email you the amount the Friday before.
TempDash balance
The cost is held from your balance when you post, and taken when the shift is paid.
What does the price include?
Read the full answerThe rate you set is all in: the professional’s pay and the TempDash platform fee. There’s nothing added on top.
Do I choose who books my shift?
Read the full answerThe first verified professional to accept books it, so there are no applications to sort through.
Right after someone books, there’s a short confirming window. In it you can look at their profile and decline them at no cost, and the shift goes straight back to matching.
Can I cancel a booked shift?
Read the full answerYes. A shift nobody has booked can be cancelled at any time at no cost.
Once someone has booked, there’s no charge to cancel:
- more than 48 hours before the start, or
- within 30 minutes of them booking, as long as the shift hasn’t started.
Otherwise you pay the minimum charge: 6 hours of the booking, or the whole booking if it’s shorter. The professional is paid it.
We always show you exactly what it will cost before you confirm. Once they’ve checked in, a shift can’t be cancelled, so tell us about the problem instead.
How are extra time claims paid?
Read the full answerBooked hours are always paid. If a professional works beyond them, the extra time is a separate claim for you to decide.
- Approve it and it’s paid.
- Adjust it down, then approve the lower amount. They’re told.
- Decline it with a reason. Their booked pay stays.
Answer within 72 hours. If you don’t, smaller claims are approved for you and larger ones come to our team to review.
Is TempDash an agency?
Read the full answerNo, TempDash is not an agency. It is a marketplace: you book independent, self employed professionals directly.
Each shift is an agreement between you and the professional. TempDash runs the platform that brings you together, checks who can work, and moves the money.
How are professionals checked?
Read the full answerBefore anyone can take a shift, we check their identity and right to work in the UK, plus their professional registration where the role needs one.
Each role also has the documents it needs, such as a DBS certificate. A professional can only book a role when every document it needs is valid until the end of that shift.
Whether you accept a professional is always your call.

Quick answers
When do I get paid?
Read the full answerYour hours are approved the moment you check out. The pay shows in your wallet under Upcoming, with the date it becomes available.
- If the workplace paid ahead, it clears quickly after your shift.
- Otherwise it clears when the workplace’s payment reaches us. Your wallet shows the date.
Sometimes we take a quick look at a shift to make sure everything’s correct before the pay is released. If there are no issues, it’s released automatically on the date shown.
If you set your start earlier than when you checked in, the workplace confirms your hours first.
Is the rate I see what I get paid?
Read the full answerYes. The hourly rate on a shift is what you’re paid for each hour, before your own tax.
Our fee is charged to the workplace on top. It never comes out of your rate.
The rate can change until someone books the shift. The rate showing when you accept is locked in and won’t change.
Are there any fees?
Read the full answerThe weekly transfer has no fee.
A transfer you ask for yourself has a small fee, and an instant one costs a little more. We always show you the fee, and exactly what reaches your bank, before you confirm.
When can I start booking shifts?
Read the full answerAs soon as your identity, your right to work and the documents for at least one of your roles are checked, you can start booking that role’s shifts.
Each role opens on its own. If you hold two roles and one is still being checked, you can book the other in the meantime. We let you know as each role opens.
Am I employed by TempDash?
Read the full answerNo. You work as an independent, self employed professional, and TempDash is not an agency.
When you accept a shift, you agree it directly with the workplace. TempDash runs the app that brings you together, checks who can work, and moves the money.
Can I get paid early?
Read the full answerSome shifts can be paid early, soon after you finish, before the workplace’s payment has cleared. Look for Fast pay on a shift.
When one is ready, open the payment in your wallet and tap Get paid now. It costs you nothing. If you don’t claim it, you’re paid on the usual date.
Early pay depends on availability. Extra time, and a payment In review, are always paid on the usual date.
What happens when a document is about to expire?
Read the full answerWe remind you by notification and email 30 days and 7 days before it expires.
Until you renew, you can still book any shift that ends before the expiry date. Shifts that end after it won’t show for that role.
Upload the new one and your current document keeps counting while we check it, so nothing stops in between.
